Where we work

The Aga Khan Foundation has a presence in 21 countries globally, implementing programmes in 17 of those including in:

  • East Africa – Kenya, Madagascar,  Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda
  • West Africa – Ivory Coast and Mali
  • Central Asia – Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan
  • South Asia – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan
  • Middle East – Egypt and Syria
  • Europe – Portugal

Our work

The Aga Khan Foundation brings together human, financial and technical resources to address some of the challenges faced by the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world.  Special emphasis is placed on investing in human potential, expanding opportunity and improving the overall quality of life, especially for women and girls.  It works primarily in six core areas:
